During my summers in college, I embarked on two transformative expeditions with Overland Missions to Central Africa, immersing myself in cross-cultural exchange and global outreach.
In summer 2022, I journeyed deep into the bush of Zambia, and in summer 2023, I spent time in the bush of Zimbabwe—both experiences shared with dear friends from SCAD and my community across the U.S. Together, we forged deep connections with local villages, embracing the beauty of cultural exchange, learning from one another, and witnessing the unifying power of shared humanity. These experiences were not just about travel; they were about breaking barriers, fostering understanding, and stepping into the role of a global citizen.
As a storyteller at heart, I created two separate short films documenting our journeys, capturing the authenticity, resilience, and vibrant spirit of the people we met. Both films were recognized with the CONVERGE ATL Community Award in 2024, a testament to the power of visual storytelling in bridging cultures and amplifying voices across borders.
